    The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue
    & Rehabilitation Center on Topsail Island

    Located in Topsail, NC, this unique resource is a benefit for the area’s returning sea turtles and for residents alike. Staffed by community volunteers, the Center works to preserve and increase the sea turtle population and nesting grounds on Topsail Beach.

    Did you know?

    Topsail Island has a rich and colorful history. Local legend tells that the area earned the name Topsail (pronounced Tops’l), during the 1700’s when pirate ships roamed the coastal waters. Local merchants discovered that the channel had become an infamous pirate hiding place and began to watch for the tops of the pirates' sails showing.

  5. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune 30 min. away

    Camp Lejeune and it's surrounding communities are home to active duty Marines, retirees and civilian employees with an approximate population of 170,000. Payrolls and contracts from the base support the infrastructure required to train and equip our Marines by generating nearly $3 billion in commerce yearly.
